Meet The Teachers

Roe Sie, Owner & Instructor

Roe Sie is the founder and owner of The King’s Roost. He teaches classes in the basics of milling and cooking with whole grains, whole grain fresh milled sourdough bread baking, fermenting,  chicken keeping, and other DIY adventures like kombucha, soap making, candle making and sauerkraut. Stop in the store anytime or click here to read more about Roe’s story.

Trish Sie, Co-Owner & Instructor

Roe’s wife, Trish, is equally obsessed with making stuff. Her special loves are animals and plants. She teaches chicken-keeping and succulent gardening, plus whatever else she’s currently feeling excited about. She also loves junk and trash and kids.  Plus, she makes some mean button-art and loves to save bottle caps. So she teaches a lot  of crafty DIY and upcycling workshops to the young folks.

Chef Mary Moran

Chef Mary Payne Moran is the resident chef at Traditional Home Magazine. She has published over a hundred recipes for them over the last 5 years.   Mary graduated from The California School in Culinary Arts, studied at The Tuscan Cooking School in Lucca, Italy and gained certification for Nutrition and Weight Loss Specialist from The American Fitness Professionals and Associates. Mary has also worked as a chef for well-known Los Angeles restaurants (Lucques, Michael’s, Larchmont Grill).

Registration Tips & Refund Policy

When you purchase a ticket to a class online, you are all set and your spot is reserved. Don’t forget to put it on your calendar.

If you try to purchase a ticket and the online shop does not allow you to complete the purchase, it most likely is because the class is sold out. Call us  at the store at 323-426-9769 if you want to be added to the waitlist. Or just check back on the listing once in a while. If someone cancels, the availability will change on the site immediately.

Refunds:
We totally understand that your plans can change or perhaps you suddenly get hired to direct a feature film, so if you can’t make it to class, not problem, just let us know 24 hours ahead of time by emailing me at roe at kingsroost.com. Let me know if you want to move your booking to a future date or just want a refund for any reason.

However, less than 24 hours  notice or no-show, we can’t refund the class. Classes are often sold out and if you don’t show up your spot goes unused by someone who might want it.  Even if the class is not sold out, instructors are prepping and purchasing supplies for classes often 2 or 3 days in advance.  That being said, if you have a last minute change in plans, or you get sick and can’t make it, don’t despair, still let us know. If we can get someone from the waitlist to take your spot, we will refund your ticket.

Got a sassy DIY skill?  Wanna join the family at The King’s Roost? Give us a shout! Teaching is fun  and our workshops are a blast.
